THE DECISION

Printer Friendly Page

The panel will give you a written decision which will explain the reasons for their decision. The decision will normally be sent to you within five business days of your appeal hearing. In instances where legal counsel is involved it may take longer than five days to issue a decision.

A decision of a Citizens' Appeal Panel is the last step in the appeal process.  The decision of the panel is final with no further levels of appeal.  However, you may seek a judicial review through the Alberta Court of Queens Bench.

While the Office of the Ombudsman cannot overturn a decision of the Citizens' Appeal Panel, if you believe your hearing was unfair you may file a complaint with their office.  The Ombudsman can be reached by calling 780-427-2756 in Edmonton and 403-297-6185 in Calgary.
