HOW TO PREPARE FOR YOUR APPEAL HEARING

Printer Friendly Page

Here are some tips to help you prepare for your Appeal Hearing:

  • Confirm the date and time of the hearing.

  • Ensure all evidence, medical reports and other related information have been sent to the office handling your case before the hearing date. To help avoid delays, be sure to give the office handling your case any new information before the hearing. New information could change the decision of the department, making it unnecessary to hold an appeal hearing.

  • Read any documents you received from the department completely before the hearing, as this is the information the department will be presenting at your appeal hearing. If you have any questions or would like to clarify any details regarding the department’s information, contact the Employment and Immigration or Seniors and Community Supports office handling your case.

  • Be prepared to explain your situation. If it would make you feel more comfortable, consider bringing a witness, a friend or a family member to speak on your behalf or help you present your case. You may obtain other representation if you wish.

...Appeal Hearings are not the place for your children?  Make arrangements for child care while you attend your appeal hearing.
