Citizens' Appeal Panels
Only decisions which have a direct impact on eligibility or benefit amounts
under the following programs may be appealed to the Citizens Appeal Panel:

Alberta
Works Income Support (IS), including training benefits for
provincially-funded Learners. The appeal process through the Citizens'
Appeal Panel does not apply to federally funded Learners (Employment
Insurance Learners).
(You can appeal decisions made regarding your
eligibility for benefits, termination of benefits, emergency
allowance, overpayments, etc.)

Assured Income for the
Severely Handicapped (AISH)
(You can appeal decisions made regarding your
eligibility for benefits, overpayments, etc.)

Widows' Pension
(You can appeal decisions made regarding your
eligibility for benefits)

Alberta Seniors Benefit
(You can appeal decisions made regarding your
eligibility for benefits and benefit calculation)

Special Needs Assistance for Seniors
(You can appeal decisions made regarding your
eligibility for benefits and benefit calculation)

Alberta Aids to Daily Living
(You can appeal cost sharing decisions)

Alberta
Child Health Benefit
(Only decisions about financial eligibility can be
appealed.)

Alberta
Adult Health Benefit
(Only decisions about financial eligibility can be
appealed.)
Citizens’ Appeal Panels hear
appeals on benefit decisions made under the Income
and Employment Supports Act, and the Widows’
Pension Act, administered by the Minister of Employment and
Immigration. They also hear appeals from benefit decisions made under
the Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped Act,
Seniors Benefit Act,
Special Needs Assistance, and cost-sharing appeals from decisions made
under the
Alberta Aids to Daily Living and Extended Health
Regulation, administered by the
Minister of Seniors and Community Supports.
Citizen Appeal Panels cannot change the law. They have to abide
by the Acts and Regulations.
Some things cannot be
appealed. For example, you cannot appeal to have your worker
changed.
